GETTING TO KNOW THE JUNGLE 3 days 2 nights


ITINERARY
1ST. DAY Monday

Lunch
The night before we´ll arrive via motorboat to Muyuna´s indegenous community, located on the banks of the Napo River. One will find this community in transitional regarding its ancients customs: from its straw houses covered with zinc to its clothing, etcetera... We will know their customs, traditions, and lifestyles. There is a small, modestly priced folk art and craft strore in this area.


2ND DAY
Full Meal
Rumihurco - Papapununo
By morning we´ll start on the Rumihurco trail, with a local guide explaining the diversity of flora in the rainforest, as well as medicinal plants and other means of subsistence. This two hour walk will feature many interpretive stops such as Rumihurco, a steep hill with a magnificent view of the forest. At Pununo, a lumber town we will cross a 200-meter long drawbridge. We´ll visit a 100 year-old tree with a circumference so large it takes several people to embrace it. Here we can also appreciate local growth. We´ll lunch and then head towards one of the beaches along the Misahualli river for a refreshing dip. Depending on how much time we have, we can let the waterfall, called the ¨live wave!¨ massage us.
Night Walk and Shamanistic Ritual
Around 8:30 p.m. we´ll take a walk in the forest. Lit by flashlights, a very loud drum will keep dangerous animals at bay. This being a winding road and we´ll pay careful attention to the native guide´s directions. For the ritual shamanic ceremony we´ll head sit on some ancient stones. The Shaman will share his wisdom with us, including a ¨cleansing¨ demonstration (an old custom of ¨sanitizing¨ wrongs).
